Blue Hosta & Red Bromeliad

Continuing my latest exploration with flora, this vibrant abstract botanical piece explores contrast through both color and form. I am quite pleased with the interplay of saturated red, deep blue, and bright yellow — for me this evokes the lush diversity of the natural world but I still get to present the modern, graphic sensibility that I really enjoy about my art. The bold red leaves suggest the dynamic unusual energy of a bromeliad, while the intricate blue forms echo the layered structure of hosta foliage — yes, there actually are blue hostas! My typical fine line work, mark-making, and textural details within each leaf add depth and rhythm creating a composition that feels both organic and intentional yet a little unique.

Blue Hosta & Red Bromeliad celebrates the tension between structure and spontaneity in nature’s design.
